UTAS Stadium is an outdoor sport and events venue located in Launceston, Tasmania.

The stadium is currently benefitting from a $130 million redevelopment project - jointly funded by the Tasmanian and Australian Governments - which will deliver a final spectator capacity of approximately 17,500 and is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Located within the broader Inveresk and York Park Precinct, UTAS Stadium is the Tasmanian home of the Northern Bombers Football Club, the Hawthorn Football Club, the northern home of the Hobart Hurricanes, and host to a broad range of sporting and entertainment events.

UTAS Stadium will become the northern home ground for the Tasmania Devils Football Club upon entry to the AFL and AFLW competitions in 2028.

Located in Inveresk

The University of Tasmania Stadium is an integral part of the Inveresk Precinct.

Once the industrial heart of Launceston, Inveresk is now also home to educational institutions, performing arts spaces, cafes and the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery

Conditions of entry

For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all patrons, staff and event participants, and/or pursuant to University of Tasmania Stadium By-Law and the Major Sporting Events Act (2009) the following items are not permitted into University of Tasmania Stadium:

  • Alcohol
  • Opened plastic soft drink containers
  • Cans/glass
  • Torn up paper
  • Musical instruments
  • Whistles
  • Unauthorised temporary signage and promotional products
  • Flags/banners with handles exceeding 1.6 metres
  • Fireworks / flares / laser lights
  • Chairs / stools
  • Rollerblades / skateboards / scooters
  • Animals (guide and hearing animals excepted)
  • Audio recording equipment / video cameras/ selfie sticks *
  • Any large article that cannot be placed under a seat
  • Any device that in the opinion of management has the potential to cause injury of public nuisance
  • Drones or other airborne recording equipment

Cloakroom facilities are not available for any of the above items.

*Audio visual equipment may be permitted for those parents whose children participate in Auskick.

  • Management reserves the right to refuse entry to any persons.
  • Patrons must comply with any requests for electronic and/or personal body searching.
  • No representations are made that there is seating available.
  • Alcoholic beverages must not be taken into or from University of Tasmania Stadium.
  • University of Tasmania Stadium is a smoke free venue - smoking (including the use of e-cigarettes) is only permitted in the designated areas on the fence lines of the venue.
  • Patrons entering University of Tasmania Stadium and / or the arena without prior authorisation will be liable for prosecution.
  • Patrons may be requested to present their bags for inspection.
  • Security cameras operate at this stadium, patrons may be filmed.
  • The carriage and operation of drones (or any such aircraft) is prohibited
  • Seats retract automatically; check your seat before you sit down.
  • Umbrellas are permitted inside University of Tasmania Stadium however cannot be raised in seating areas whilst any activity is taking place on the arena.
  • Prams are permitted in the stadium however must be able to fit under a seat in the grandstand or be folded down in the general admission areas.
  • Patrons must refrain from using foul or abusive language and from making racial or threatening remarks or gestures.
  • Patrons must occupy the seat specified on their ticket.
  • City of Launceston will not be held responsible for any damages to, loss or theft of a patron's personal property.
  • Patrons failing to comply with these Conditions of Entry or requests from University of Tasmania Stadium staff or their representatives may be ejected from University of Tasmania Stadium. If removed, it is an offence to re-enter or attempt to re-enter the venue for a period of 24 hours.

Cricket Australia's Ticket and Entry conditions prohibit the Mexican Wave inside University of Tasmania Stadium at cricket matches.
