Launceston to Host World Class Exclusive Foo Fighters Concert
Date
3 December 2025
Stadiums Tasmania is proud to have achieved a landmark result for Tasmania, securing iconic global superstars Foo Fighters to rock UTAS Stadium for an exclusive one night only Australian performance this summer on 24 January 2026.
The internationally recognised 15-time GRAMMY® winners have chosen to bring their unforgettable live show to Launceston for a one-off Australian summer performance.
As one of the biggest and most enduring musical artists in the world, the Foo Fighter’s January 2026 concert will be the band’s first ever show in Launceston and the first show in Tasmania since 2015 when they delivered a arena performance at MyState Bank Arena.
Securing this one-off performance is a major coup for Launceston and Tasmania more broadly, with thousands of concertgoers set to descend on the state’s north for this exclusive event and providing Tasmanians with access to world-class entertainment in their home state. This is a sign of things from Stadiums Tasmania, who will continue to work with promoters to bring experiences like this to Tasmania.
Stadiums Tasmania has secured this concert at UTAS Stadium with the support of the Tasmanian Government and the City of Launceston, with the event expected to deliver value of an 11 to 1 return on economic investment.
Supporting Foo Fighters on the night will be two rising Aussie bands: Brisbane rockers Full Flower Moon Band and Launceston’s very own Spooky Eyes.

About the Band:
Foo Fighters have sold over 1.8 million records in Australia, with nine #1 albums to date – the most #1 in any territory for the band. As the world’s premier stadium rock band, they returned to the stage this September, surprising US fans with a run of guerilla club shows featuring new drummer Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails, Paramore). In October they dropped new single ‘Asking For a Friend’, which follows on from the July release ‘Today’s Song’, the first new taste of music from the band in two years. Foo Fighters will perform across the UK and Europe in June 2026, supported by Aussies Royel Otis and Otoboke Beaver, Inhaler, Die Spitz, Idles and Fat Dog, before undertaking a North American summer stadium tour in August/September alongside guests Queens of the Stone Age, Mannequin Pussy, and Gouge Away.
Marking their 14th visit to Australia with this special show at UTAS Stadium, the band have a history of delivering jaw-dropping surprise performances: in March 2022 Foo Fighters reignited the nation, delivered a blistering, history-making performance in Geelong, VIC.
One of the biggest live draws on the worldwide stadium circuit, their iconic hits have soundtracked fans’ lives: ‘The Pretender’, ‘Breakout’, ‘This Is a Call’, ‘My Hero’, ‘All My Life’, ‘Everlong’, ‘The Sky Is A Neighborhood’, ‘Learn To Fly’, ‘Best Of You’, ‘Monkey Wrench’, ‘Times Like These’, ‘Walk’ and more.
Supporting Foo Fighters on the night will be two rising Aussie bands: Brisbane rockers Full Flower Moon Band, and Launceston psych trio Spooky Eyes.
Foo Fighters are Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and Ilan Rubin.
